A separate path
for drinking water.
Reverse osmosis uses a membrane as part of a treatment system. It can reduce a range of dissolved substances, but the actual claims depend on the complete model, its certification and the conditions in your home.
We start with your priorities, under-sink space, water pressure and the amount of drinking water you use — then explain the trade-offs.
Discuss a kitchen RO system ↗Compare more than filter stages.
- Verified performance: the exact model, current certification listing and the particular substances covered.
- Useful output: production at realistic inlet pressure and temperature, storage capacity and dispensing flow.
- Water efficiency: rated recovery and reject-water volume under stated test conditions.
- Practical ownership: replacement filter availability, membrane costs, sanitation and access.
Understand the installation.
Most under-sink systems need a cold-water connection, a suitable drain connection and a dedicated faucet. Some designs need electrical power. Your proposal should explain cabinet space, any countertop drilling, leak protection options and applicable plumbing requirements.
Does RO use extra water?
Yes. Conventional RO systems send a portion of incoming water to drain while producing treated water. Efficiency varies substantially by model and operating conditions. Compare documented recovery data instead of assuming every RO system has the same drain ratio.
Is an RO system right for every home?
Not necessarily. The choice should follow the desired treatment goal. Water pressure, incoming water chemistry and maintenance needs can influence suitability. A private well may require testing and pretreatment before RO is appropriate.
A clear standard for claims
No specific PFAS, lead, fluoride or other reduction is promised here for an unspecified product. Your written proposal should name the exact model and link its relevant current listing.
